BETHEL DEMOCRATS JUST CAN’T FOLLOW THE LAW Second Democrat Arrested in One Week – What’s Going On in Bethel?
(Middletown, CT) – Something is seriously wrong with the Bethel Democrats. In just one week, not one, but two prominent Bethel Democrats have found themselves on the wrong side of the law.
First, State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan was arrested again—his second arrest—for shoplifting. Now comes news that Cynthia Behrens McGuire, a former Democrat officeholder in Bethel, was arrested by the Danbury Police for reckless driving, blowing through three red lights, and dangerously tailgating a federal law enforcement vehicle.
“What is it with Bethel Democrats? They just can’t seem to obey the law,” said Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Ben Proto. “Allie-Brennan gets popped for shoplifting—again—and then McGuire recklessly endangers lives on the streets of Danbury. She didn’t just run one red light—she ran three—and was tailgating a federal law enforcement vehicle. And when the police stopped her, she was so uncooperative that the Danbury Fire Department had to forcibly remove her from the car. You can’t make this stuff up.”
“And yet—crickets from Connecticut Democrats,” Proto continued. “Where is Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves? Where is the Connecticut Democrat Party? Their silence is deafening. If this were a Republican, they’d be tripping over each other to get in front of a microphone. But when it’s one of their own, they suddenly lose their voice.”
Proto called on Democrat leaders to take action:
“Governor Lamont, Senators Blumenthal and Murphy, our entire congressional delegation, Speaker Ritter, Senator Looney, and especially Roberto Alves—Danbury’s Mayor and the Democrat State Party Chair—need to stop hiding and start leading. Condemn these actions. Take real steps to show that Democrats aren’t above the law.”
“The people of Bethel and Danbury—and all of Connecticut—deserve better,” concluded Proto. “If Connecticut Democrats can’t see the problem here, then they are the problem.”
