Through objects, photographs, documents and more, the exhibition transports visitors to the cusp of the election of 1860 to discover the story of the Wide Awakes, a grassroots campaign organization founded by five young men in Hartford, Connecticut. During a time of deep political division and fears of a civil war, the Wide Awakes quickly became a nationwide movement and helped elect President Lincoln.
