Hayes and Courtney Vote to Block Funding for Veterans

Rep. Jahana Hayes (CT-05) and Rep. Joe Courtney (CT-02) have both voted to block funding for our veterans, a measure advanced by House Republicans.

The Republican proposal fully funds the VA, in addition to veterans’ health care and benefits, yet all Connecticut Democratic representatives voted against it. In doing so, they voted against the tens of thousands of veterans living in Connecticut.

This vote comes after Hayes and Courtney voted against the National Defense Authorization Act, which funded our military and created pay raises for active duty members of the military.

Are Connecticut Democrats really this opposed to helping the people who keep our country safe? Or are they so partisan that they refuse to vote with Republicans on anything? Either way, they are doing a disservice to every American by voting against our veterans.

“Hayes has betrayed veterans and active duty troops. Hayes votes the extreme Democrat party line even when that means targeting the health care and benefits veterans earned serving our country in uniform — or blocking pay raises for active duty troops,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Savannah Viar.
