Jahana Hayes Votes for Higher Gas Prices

Summer vacations are on the way for millions of American families, but if you see the price of gas go up in the coming weeks, you can thank Connecticut’s own Jahana Hayes, the Representative for CT’s 5th Congressional District. Hayes recently voted against H.R. 1: Lower Energy Costs Act.

The bill, supported by House Republicans, seeks to lower energy costs for American families and restore American energy dominance.

“What a great day this is for American families who have been struggling for too long under the weight of high prices, record high inflation, all of the problems that President Biden has created. And especially for those people that have been frustrated for so long that President Biden has gone after American energy, but yet gone all around the world and beg foreign dictators to produce our energy to get their energy from them,” said House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.)

Even amidst times of high inflation causing so many Americans to struggle, Hayes continues to vote in lockstep with Democrats and Biden.

“Americans can thank extreme Democrat Jahana Hayes for surging gas prices. Instead of working to unleash energy production and bring down gas prices for Connecticut families, Hayes sided with extreme environmentalists to inflict pain at the pump,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Savannah Viar.
